What is a Pathway?
An SCAA educational Pathway is a program designed to give you the knowledge, hands on experience and industry connections to pursue a successful career in the specialty coffee industry. There are four Pathways available to pursue: the Barista Pathway, Roaster Pathway, Coffee Buyer Pathway, and Coffee Taster Pathway.
Pathway classes are available in both classroom and online versions and are offered throughout the year. Students have the option of attending Pathway classes either at an SCAA event, online, or at an official SCAA campus.
Additionally, SCAA offers Stewardship Programs such as the SCAA Instructor Credential, SCAA Specialized Instructor, SCAA Lab Inspector, and Golden Cup Technician. Our Stewards protect the integrity of every aspect of the Pathway program.
How a Pathway Program Works
Every student begins with Foundations, which serves as the introduction to all of the Pathways and builds a vocabulary, both spoken and sensed, that will serve each subsequent class in any chosen course of study. Once the Foundations coursework is complete, students may begin their focused work in classes specific to their career objectives.
Why Choose SCAA Pathways?
SCAA educational Pathway programs are internationally recognized and respected as the premier source of industry knowledge and the source of great coffee professionals. Many companies state that they seek out and show hiring preference to professionals who are Pathway graduates. If you’re serious about a career in coffee, SCAA Pathways can prepare you for success.
